More Passengers Used EMA In 2007

More passengers used East Midlands Airport (EMA) last year than in 2006, new figures have revealed.
Data released by the hub showed that a total of 5,414,299 passengers used the Castle Donington Airport in 2007 - up 14.5 per cent on the previous year.
What's more, December saw passenger numbers rise for the 12th successive month. In total, 377,929 travellers used the hub in the month, up 16.7 per cent over the same month in 2006.
During 2007, the airport added a host of new routes including five new destinations from Ryanair and Scandinavian airline Sterling's new services to Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm.
"This record increase in passengers demonstrates the demand in the region for local access to air travel. I'm delighted with the public response to the wide choice of destinations we're now able to offer and to the investment we've made in improving the passenger experience," explained the airport's managing director, Penny Coates.
"The challenge for us is to build on this fantastic performance and to continue to deliver the services the region deserves."
Recently, bmi revealed that it was set to launch a new service from EMA to Cologne in Germany.
