Nema Plans Bus Service
Nottingham East Midlands Airport (Nema) has announced that it is to introduce a new bus service from Leicester to improve access to the hub.
It is hoped that the link will run for 18 hours a day and improve access for holidaymakers and those taking business trips from the busy airport.
There are currently bus services that run from Derby and Loughborough to Nema and the number of people utilising them has increased over the past few months.
"This is just the sort of initiative we need to make access to the airport easier for those working there and for flight passengers," said Nicholas Rushton from Leicestershire Council.
"I am very pleased that it will offer a direct service for many Leicestershire people and, with the Loughborough service which is also being improved, it will be a real asset for the county," he continued.
It is hoped that the new link will be open by this autumn and the East Midlands Development Agency says it is now in the "final stages of funding".
