New Security System For Manchester Airport Staff

Manchester Airport has become the first airport in the UK to see the installation of an iris biometric access control portal, SourceSecurity.com has reported.
The system, which was developed by security doors and screens company Meesons along with HumanRecognitionSystems Ltd and CEM Systems, is intended to make it safer and more secure for the airport to transit staff from airside through to landside.
Enhanced security and increased efficiency is provided by the system, which includes iris recognition cameras and single person volumetric access control portals.
Mike Fazackerley, director of security and customer service at Manchester Airport, said: "Manchester Airport is keen to ensure that security remains at the highest and most stringent levels, and that it is a safe, secure and convenient airport environment for staff.
"The biometric access control system enables us to practice that."
Simon Meyer from HRS said that the system offers staff and passengers using Manchester Airport "outstanding security and enhanced peace of mind at a place where protection and a high level of control is critical".
