Newcastle Passenger Milestone For Emirates

Emirates has reached a passenger milestone for its Newcastle Airport service to Dubai by handling its 100,000th customer today (Wednesday, May 21st).

The Dubai service has proved extremely popular with north-east business flyers since it was introduced in September 2007, offering a daily flight departing from Newcastle International Airport at 13:40.

The route is operated by an Airbus A330-200 aircraft and gives passengers access to onward connections to destinations such as the Maldives, Bangkok and Sydney.

Laurie Berryman, Emirates' UK manager for the north, commented: "We are thrilled to be reaching this milestone in our Newcastle service so quickly, and several weeks ahead of what we had forecast.

"The demand for Emirates' service from Newcastle has exceeded our expectations, and travellers from the region are clearly taking advantage of our network to fly to Dubai and beyond."
