Passenger Numbers Rise At Glasgow Prestwick

Glasgow Prestwick Airport announced yesterday (Wednesday, April 23rd) that it handled a large number of passengers in March, ending the financial year on a high note.
The number of customers flying to and from the Scottish hub reached 192,142 last month, representing a year-on-year increase of six per cent.
Glasgow Prestwick handled 180,978 passengers in March 2007.
Over the last twelve months, a total of 2,426,630 flyers used the airport, with passenger growth stimulated by the introduction of new destinations such as Budapest, Cork and Poznan.
Mark Rodwell, chief executive of Glasgow Prestwick Airport, commented: "It is pleasing to see growth in the passenger sector, particularly after we discovered how important foreign visitors are to the Ayrshire and Scottish economies.
"Several new services have been introduced over the last 12 months and are performing well, which is encouraging as we move towards the peak summer season."
