Rail Fare Increases 'will Drive People To Regional Airports'

Recent increase to UK rail fares will encourage more people to use regional airports like Bristol to travel around the country.
That's the opinion of Tony Hallwood, aviation development director at the south-western hub.
As the new year began, several rail companies announced that fares would increase by as much as 11 per cent.
"Increases in rail fares will see more passengers taking domestic flights," Mr Hallwood explained.
"Multi-daily frequency services between Bristol and key cities such as Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Manchester, Leeds and Belfast remain vital to maintaining the connectivity demanded by businesses operating in this region."
Recently, Bristol International Airport reported that will be supporting local charity The Grand Appeal in 2008.
The charity, which was started by Wallace & Gromit founder Nick Park, provides finds for a local children's hospital.
As a result of the airport's decision, it is likely that Wallace & Gromit could soon decide to visit the hub.
Jacqui Mills, customer experience manager at Bristol International commented: "The visit of Wallace & Gromit will help get our fundraising efforts off to a flying start and we hope to raise thousands of pounds for a cause that is close to all of our hearts."
