Runway To Shut For Repairs At Manchester

One of the runways at Manchester Airport will be closed for three weeks in February.
Officials revealed that Runway 2 would be shut from February 5th until February 29th to allow for scheduled engineering work.
During this period, all flights will take off and land on Runway 1. The closure has been timed to coincide with the airport's quietest period to minimise disruption.
Manchester Airport's managing director, Andrew Cornish, commented: "This is important but routine engineering work and we have chosen to do this during February which is traditionally a quieter time before the busy summer period.
"We hope to be able to manage all the aircraft on Runway 1 and don't expect this work to cause any significant delays.
"We're firmly committed to maintaining our high levels of service to both passengers and airlines and are mindful of the impact on the community."
Recently, Manchester Airport scooped the Best Regional Airport prize at the Travel Weekly Globe Travel Awards 2008.
