BIRMINGHAM AIRPORT PARKING NEWS - 03/12/2008
Following the cancellation of a number of routes by rival budget carrier bmibaby, Ryanair has announced it will make a "rescue offer" to customers.
In November, bmibaby announced that it would suspend routes from Birmingham Airport to a range of destinations including Rome, Lisbon, Madrid and Bordeaux, as well as routes from East Midlands Airport.
Ryanair has confirmed it would offer special rates on some of the destinations affected by the scheduling change, where passengers would only be required to pay the taxes and charges but not an actual ticket cost.
The Irish carrier's Stephen McNamara said: "Most people make hay while the sun shines but bmibaby closes routes while the sun shines!"
Mr McNamara went on to say that "passengers who are affected by the closure of bmibabys routes from Birmingham and East Midlands" would now have the choice of a "rescue offer" of flights to Rome, Milan, Biarritz and Prague.
Recently it was announced that bmibaby was the subject of a potential takeover bid by fellow British airline Flybe.
