Work On Glasgow Airport Begins

Work has begun on the next phase of Glasgow Airport's multi-million pound redevelopment.
After six months of enabling work on site, constructors began laying foundations for the £30 million development yesterday (October 29th).
This phase of the project is expected to last seven months and the new development is scheduled to open in October 2008.
Once completed, the new skyhub development is expected to reduce security waiting times, increase capacity in the terminal and offer passengers more choice and comfort. The building itself will also be highly energy efficient as it is to be constructed from a special material called Kalwall.
Gordon Dewar, managing director of Glasgow Airport explained: "skyhub will allow us to offer greater levels of choice and comfort for passengers by creating one departure hub open to all departing travellers.
"[It] will transform the travel experience for passengers flying from Glasgow Airport. It is also another sign of the continuing regeneration of Renfrewshire's economy."
Airlines that operate flights out of Glasgow International Airport include easyJet, British Airways, bmi and Flyglobespan.
