UK Airports Set For Busiest Christmas In History
The countdown to Christmas is well and truly on – and if you’re planning to fly this festive season, you’re certainly not alone. The UK’s aviation regulator is already working closely with the travel industry to prepare for what’s expected to be the busiest Christmas on record, with tens of millions of passengers set to take to the skies over the coming weeks.

New figures from the Civil Aviation Authority highlight just how busy the year has already been. Summer 2025 was officially the busiest ever for UK airports, and between January and September alone, a huge 231 million passengers travelled through UK terminals. Even more striking, total passenger numbers for the year are expected to exceed 300 million – surpassing last year’s figure of 295 million, which included 22 million people flying in December.

What does this mean for you? In short – airports will be extremely busy, especially around peak Christmas and New Year travel dates. With that much demand, everything from security queues to airport parking is under extra pressure.
One of the easiest ways to avoid unnecessary stress (and rising costs) is to book your airport parking as early as possible. As availability tightens, prices tend to rise, and last-minute options can be limited. By securing your space in advance, you not only guarantee your parking, but also lock in the best possible price for your trip.
If you’re flying this Christmas, a little forward planning now can save you both time and money later – leaving you free to focus on what really matters: enjoying your journey and the festive season ahead.
